The Shefford Club has excellent facilities and a green we are very proud of. The Club was formed in1965 is situated within the grounds of the Shefford Town Memorial Association. Which is off Hitchin Road and the entrance is opposite the Woolpack Public House. We are a mixed club totalling 60 members.

The club has a qualified instructor who will show you the basics of the game and to help you develop into an experienced bowler.  Please do not worry about equipment as the club has several sets of bowls for newcomers to use.

So the invitation is there, come along and receive some free instruction to see whether or not you want to go further.

Are you young, middle-aged or a pensioner?
Are you Male or Female?
If you answer YES to ANY of the above, you are a potential bowler!

There are several reasons why bowling could be the sport for you, whatever your age, and whatever level of fitness you have.  Believe it or not, blindness is not an insurmountable hurdle!
Bowlers come from all walks of life and are from all age groups, but all bowlers are equal on the green, and all have the same objective - to deliver their bowls to score the points to win the end.

For younger bowlers, bowling offers the challenge of any sport - developing and honing their skills to compete, and developing their social skills with bowlers of all ages as equals on the green - an excellent introduction to life after school.
For the more mature bowlers, the competitive element may be dominant, though the social element is also important.

For senior bowlers starting late in life, the bowling and the social life tend to be equally important (and, in many cases, they regret that they hadn't taken up bowling earlier in life!).

A HEALTHY OPTION - Lawn Green bowling is RECOMMENDED by the medical profession for members of the Zipper Club, in fact any who need gentle exercise after cardio-vascular surgery or knee/hip replacements.
